These remarkable geckos are among the most sought-after New World gecko species available today. Often referred to as the Spotted Turnip Tail Gecko, they are admired for their impressive size, distinctive spotted patterns, and fascinating natural behaviors.
Their nickname comes from their tendency to regenerate their tails, which can occur due to breeding activity or as a natural defense mechanism. Like many gecko species, they can voluntarily drop their tails when threatened and later regrow them.
Saint Martin Giant Spotted Geckos are highly adaptable and typically do very well when maintained in compatible pairs, groups, or colony setups.
Species: Thecadactylus oskrobapreinorum
Origin: Field Collected
Size: Approximately 5–7 inches and very robust
Natural Range: Saint Martin and surrounding Caribbean regions
Food: Vitamin-dusted crickets, Pangea Gecko Diet, and other appropriate feeder insects
Lifespan: Up to 8 years in captivity with proper care
These geckos are active, hardy, and make excellent display animals. Their large size, unique appearance, and rarity have made them increasingly popular among gecko enthusiasts and advanced reptile collectors.
Please Note: These animals may have regenerated tails, which is completely normal for the species. As a skin-sloughing gecko, minor cosmetic skin damage may occasionally occur during shipping. In most cases, this heals completely within 7–14 days under proper husbandry conditions.
